    Mohammed bin Zayed receives the Syrian president

    Her Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, met with the President of Syria, Bashar al-Assad, here at Qasr Al-Shati’ Palace. The Syrian President’s visit comes in the context of both countries’ keen interest in continuing consultation and coordination on issues of mutual interest.

    Mohammed bin Zayed receives the Syrian presidentIn his remarks, Sheikh Mohamed wished for goodness, peace, and stability to prevail in Syria and the entire region. He was briefed by President Bashar al-Assad on the latest developments in Syria. The two sides discussed bilateral relations, prospects for cooperation and joint coordination to achieve their common interests and contribute to security, stability and peace in the Arab world.

    Both sides discussed a variety of topics, and emphasis was placed on preserving the territorial integrity of Syria and withdrawing foreign forces from the country, in addition to providing political support and humanitarian aid so that Syria and its people can find a peaceful solution to all their challenges. The UAE is keen to increase cooperation with Syria to realize the aspirations of the brotherly Syrian people towards stability and development, Sheikh Mohamed said.
